Juan Mata urges Man United to ‘keep climbing the table’ after Arsenal win
Juan Mata urges Manchester United to continue their winning run
Juan Mata has heaped praise on David De Gea after the goalkeeper helped Manchester United secure a “very important” 2-1 win at Arsenal on Saturday.
The Spain international made eight saves as Kieran Gibbs’s own goal and Wayne Rooney’s 81st-minute strike sealed three points for the Red Devils.
We are fourth now and we want to keep climbing the table
Louis van Gaal’s side have won back-to-back games, lifting United up to fourth in the table, and Mata wants their winning run to continue.
“This last win was very important, that’s for sure,” Mata wrote in his blog, One Hour Behind.
“Arsenal is a team that keeps attacking the entire game, even more when they play at home.
“They created good chances and it was tough, but we managed to bring the three points back to Manchester thanks to David’s great performance, Antonio’s shot that ended up in an own goal and Wayne’s clinical finish.
“We are fourth now and we want to keep climbing the table.”
Mata added: “After two victories in a row all we want now is to keep this good streak.
“It’s not going to be easy against Hull and Stoke, but we hope to play two good games and win.”
Mata bemoaned United’s injury crisis after left-back Luke Shaw was forced off in the first half at The Emirates with a hamstring problem.
“The bad news was Luke Shaw’s injury, and unfortunately we are suffering too many of them so far this season, but the most important thing is to keep winning games and wait for the team-mates to be fully fit,” Mata added.
