Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley are good enough to play for Barcelona, according to Xavi.

The Liverpool forward has been linked with a move to Barca’s bitter rivals Real Madrid in recent months as talks with the Reds over a new contract reportedly stalled.

Sterling, who scored nine goals in 33 Premier League games last season, was one of England’s big plus points from an otherwise disappointing World Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, Barkley has emerged as a target for Chelsea and Manchester United after impressing since breaking through at Everton under Roberto Martinez last season.

And World Cup winner Xavi believes the English pair have the necessary qualities to prove a success at Barcelona.

“Yes, why not? I think that they could,” Xavi told Squawka.

“They have incredible physical capabilities and they are good technically. In Spain, we prioritise players who are technically gifted but both things are very important in football.”

Is Raheem Sterling good enough for Barca?
