Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin in action, the player’s agent has revealed.

The Reds are reported to be on the lookout for a new shot-stopper to add competition for Simon Mignolet at Anfield.

And the 21-year-old’s agent, Matteo Roggi, has suggested that the Reds are keen on signing his client, although there has been no official contact from the Merseyside club.

“I’ve heard these transfer rumours, but I can safely say that there is nothing at the moment,” Roggi told

“It is normal for a goalkeeper like Mattia, who is playing very well, to be followed closely by great Italian and foreign clubs.

“It is true that Liverpool have sent scouts three or four times to Italy to look at his professional growth.

“I have not had contact with the English club and I do not think that Genoa have either.”

Do Liverpool need a new goalkeeper?
