Liverpool legend excited by Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge partnership
Mark Lawrenson reckons the Liverpool pair could forge an exciting partnership
Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge can develop an exciting partnership, according to Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson.
The 25-year-old Liverpool striker suffered a further injury blow on Tuesday after he succumbed to a thigh strain.
It will be interesting when Daniel Sturridge comes back because the two of them together could be very good
Sturridge hasn’t featured for the Reds since August following a thigh problem which was followed by a calf issue.
Lallana, meanwhile, missed the opening weeks of the season with a knee injury before he scored his first Reds goal against West Bromwich Albion.
And former Liverpool centre-half Lawrenson is excited by the prospect of England pair Lallana and Sturridge linking up in Brendan Rodgers’s side.
“He [Lallana] did well for England in the last two games. He makes things happen. Boy, do Liverpool need him at the moment,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“It will be interesting when Daniel Sturridge comes back because the two of them together could be very good.”
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas hailed Lallana’s silky style of play.
“I love the way Adam Lallana moves, he’s so silky and he can shoot with either foot. When he’s had his chance he has done well for me,” Jenas added.
