Robbie Fowler has backed “fantastic” Mario Balotelli to blossom into a good player for Liverpool.

The Reds forward has failed to score in nine Premier League games following his £16m move from AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

I am sure he will be a good player for Liverpool

Balotelli has been heavily criticised for his lethargic movement up front as Liverpool slumped to their fifth defeat of the season.

But Liverpool legend Fowler is confident that Balotelli can improve and the Reds will get to see his undoubted talent.

“For whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out for him so far,” Fowler told FourFourTwo. “But Balotelli is a fantastic talent, he has scored goals everywhere he has been.

“You look at the clubs he has played for, and he obviously has something about him.

“He needs to concentrate on his football, forget about any off-field antics and run about a little bit more. I am sure he will be a good player for Liverpool.”

Balotelli has scored two goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.
