Liverpool need four or five players in the January transfer window after the Reds slumped to a 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday, according to Jamie Carragher.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers signed eight players in the summer following Luis Suarez’s £75m switch to Barcelona in July.

Liverpool have already conceded 18 goals in the Premier League despite signing defenders Javi Manquillo, Alberto Moreno and Dejan Lovren.

And former Reds centre-half Carragher feels the Liverpool squad lacks “men” after their collapse at Selhurst Park.

“Liverpool lacked leadership last season. It cost Liverpool the title in the end. They conceded 50 goals last season,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“It hasn’t been rectified with the money that has been spent. I’m very worried now as a Liverpool fan.

“Players are taking time to settle in. I’m looking at it now, and Liverpool need four or five new players.”

Carragher added: “There’s not enough men in the team.

“You can’t always play well. Sometimes you have to grind results out.”

Sunday’s defeat left Liverpool are 12th in the Premier League table.
