Liverpool suffer Mario Balotelli injury setback
Mario Balotelli withdraws from the Italy squad with hamstring and groin injuries
Mario Balotelli has been forced to withdraw from the Italy squad for the forthcoming games against Croatia and Albania with hamstring and groin injuries.
The Liverpool striker, who was recently recalled by Italy manager Antonio Conte, is currently struggling with the problems and is set to return to Merseyside for treatment.
Italy will also be without Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna, who is suffering with a thigh strain.
“Mario Balotelli and Angelo Ogbonna will leave the team training camp. Although Ogbonna’s left thigh injury is improving, he has been advised to avoid stressing the injury as a precaution,” read a statement from the Italian Football Association.
“It is the same scenario for the Balotelli, who since Friday has felt a hamstring strain and a sore groin.”
Balotelli has scored two goals for Liverpool this season.
