Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed that he wanted to leave Bayern Munich in the summer but the Bundesliga club blocked a move away.

The highly-rated Switzerland international was heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool over the summer but a transfer failed to materialise.

The 23-year-old has now confirmed that he was keen on leaving the German club, but that they refused to sell him.

And Shaqiri is hoping to discuss his future with the Bundesliga side in the coming months.

“I wanted to leave Bayern in the summer but the club made the decision not to sell me,” Shaqiri told Blick.

“I had the feeling that it was better for me to try my luck elsewhere after the World Cup. I was thinking about a summer move but then Bayern decided different.

“I have to get on with it. We will meet again in the winter and discuss my situation.”

Where will Xherdan Shaqiri be next season?
