Brendan Rodgers describes Martin Odegaard as a 'wonderful talent'

Brendan Rodgers has described Martin Odegaard as a wonderful player amid reports Liverpool are interested in the Norwegian teenager.

The 15-year-old has already received two Norway caps after impressing for his club side Stromsgodset IF.

Odegaard is attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United and Ajax.

While Rodgers refused to talk about the club’s speculated interest, the Liverpool manager was quick to talk up the youngster’s talent.

“I know the young player that you’re talking about and I won’t go into too much detail because he works and players for another club,” Rodgers said.

“I know he is a big talent for that age, to be playing senior football at 15 in a competitive league.

“He has wonderful ability and a wonderful talent.”

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, meanwhile, refused to comment on Odegaard, who is reported to be a boyhood Liverpool fan.

Odegaard has scored five goals in 23 appearances for Stromsgodset IF.
