Liverpool transfers: Raheem Sterling quashes Real Madrid speculation
Raheem Sterling wants to stay at Liverpool for a long time
Raheem Sterling insists he wants to stay at Liverpool for “as long as possible” despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old has been linked with the Champions League holders in recent weeks amid speculation the forward had hesitated on signing a new Liverpool contract.
Sterling, who scored nine goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season, has a deal with the Reds that will run until 2017.
And the Liverpool forward is optimistic about the Merseyside outfit’s future, insisting he wants to stay at Anfield for a long time.
“I am happy to be here for as long as possible. Hopefully I can achieve the goals I want to achieve here at Liverpool in years to come,” Sterling is quoted as saying.
“I am just happy to play football at this club for many years to come. The club has spoken to my representatives and hopefully something can be done soon.”
Sterling has scored three goals and made three assists in 11 Premier League appearances this season.
