Mario Balotelli has expressed his pride after being recalled to the Italy squad for their next round of games.

The Liverpool striker was left out of Antonio Conte’s squad earlier in the season but has been added to the team for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Croatia on 16 November.

Balotelli quickly took to Facebook on Sunday night to react to the news, writing: “Glad to be back on the National Team and proud to represent my country.”

The Italian has endured a mixed start to life at Liverpool following his £16m transfer from AC Milan the summer.

The 24-year-old has scored just two goals in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’ men following his switch to Anfield.

Balotelli fired another blank at the weekend when he played 79 minutes in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Chelsea on Merseyside.
