Louis van Gaal hails ‘fantastic’ Ander Herrera after Man United win
The Manchester United boss was thrilled with the Spaniard's display in 3-0 win over Hull City
Louis van Gaal singled out Ander Herrera for special praise after the midfielder helped Manchester United to a 3-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday.
The Spaniard was introduced early on in the game after Angel di Maria limped off with a suspected hamstring injury.
“I have to say Herrera came in and did fantastic, I was very pleased with how he did.” Van Gaal told MUTV.
“He is a very fit player which is why I also let him play in the Reserves. I’m very happy for him because he needed a good performance.”
Chris Smalling opened the scoring when he scrambled home in the 16th minute, before Wayne Rooney made it 2-0 two minutes before half-time.
Robin van Persie then secured the points with a powerful strike in the 66th minute to keep Van Gaal’s side fourth in the Premier League table.
“I was very pleased with our dominance in the whole game and also with our positional game,” he added.
“We scored three goals, created more chances, and we didn’t give any chances away – that’s very good.”
