Lukas Podolski is targeting an improved return in front of goal for Arsenal this season.

The Germany international’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks due to his lack of playing time for the Gunners.

Podolski netted the crucial winner as Arsenal came from behind to beat Anderlecht in their last Champions League outing.

And the 29-year-old is determined to improve his strike-rate ahead of the Gunners’ clash with the Belgian side at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

“The Champions League is always a special cup,” Podolski told Arsenal Player.

“I’ve done well in the competition in the last season or so, and they are games that I like. I’m happy to score but I want to score more goals.

“The games are under lights, in the evening, and something special. Of course I like to score in the Champions League, but I like to do that in the Premier League and in other competitions, too.

“It’s always good to be back scoring goals, especially when it gives the team three points.”

Where will Lukas Podolski be next season?
