Man City 2 Swansea 1: Manuel Pellegrini up for title ‘fight’
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini praises his Citizens side
Manuel Pellegrini says Manchester City are ready to fight for points to get their title bid back on track after the champions edged to victory over Swansea City.
Garry Monk’s high-flying Swans side took a surprise lead at Etihad Stadium courtesy of Wilfried Bony’s ninth-minute strike.
We have to play seven games more before the end of December and we have to fight for all of them
However, City hit back inside 10 minutes as Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic scored his third goal of the season.
And talismanic midfielder Yaya Toure drove a wedge through the Swansea defence to net the winner with 28 minutes remaining.
“Very happy because we won the game. We played very well and had a lot of chances to score the third goal and we defended well,” Pellegrini told BBC Sport.
“It was a difficult start because they scored with their only chance in the first half.
“We are absolutely confident the way we play and sure we are going to win the game. If we scored the third goal we could play well and not so tight.
“We had the chances but didn’t score. The best way to score goals is to play as a team. The second goal was beautiful play.
