Jamie Redknapp has backed Manchester United to finish in the top four.

The Red Devils climbed into the Champions League places on Saturday after Louis van Gaal’s side were 2-1 winners against rivals Arsenal.

United have endured a mixed start to the season following the appointment of Van Gaal, winning just five of their 12 league games.

But former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp reckons the Red Devils have the necessary firepower to secure a top-four finish.

“I think Manchester United will finish in the top four this year,” Redknapp said.

“They’ve got quality going forward and not playing Champions League football week-in, week-out will help them.

“They could have been two or three down and were up against it in the first half hour, but this gives them confidence and this is a starting point.

“They’ve won five games this season and they’ll win more because of the quality they’ve got going forward.”

Injured striker Radamel Falcao has hailed United’s important win in the race for a top-four finish.
