Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Gareth Bale – after the Welshman’s agent insisted that his client has no intention of quitting Real Madrid.

The Red Devils have been linked with a big-money swoop for the former Tottenham Hotspur star in recent weeks as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his already-potent strikeforce at Old Trafford.

Bale has also been touted as a possible January target for Chelsea, but the player’s representative insists that the reports linking the 25-year-old with United are “absolute rubbish”.

“It is not true that Gareth wants to return to the Premier League,” David Manasseh told Calciomercato.

“Everything is going well for him at Madrid and he wants to continue to wear the Real Madrid jersey.

“These rumours about a swap with United are absolute rubbish.”

Bale has scored five goals and made three assists in La Liga for Real Madrid this season.
