Ron Vlaar has hinted that he could sign a new del with Aston Villa despite reported interest from Manchester United.

The 29-year-old has been linked with the Red Devils since manager Louis van Gaal signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford.

Vlaar was widely praised for his performances in Van Gaal’s Netherlands side that reached the World Cup semi-finals this summer.

But the Villa centre-half revealed he has spoken with his manager Paul Lambert over a new contract at Villa Park.

“I have nothing to say because there is nothing going on,” Vlaar is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.

“I have spoken to the gaffer a few times (about a new deal) but that is it so far.”

Vlaar has scored two goals in 59 Premier League appearances.

Is Ron Vlaar good enough for Man United?
