Man United transfers: Ron Vlaar ready for new step, says Arsenal target’s agent
Ron Vlaar is ready to take a 'nice step' in his career, says defender's agent
Ron Vlaar is ready to take a “nice step” forward in his career, according to the Aston Villa defender’s agent.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United after the Netehrlands international impressed at the World Cup.
The natural break for Ron is now and it’s the time to take a nice step
Vlaar is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, and Villa are yet to open talks with the centre-half over a new contract.
And the defender’s agent Arnold Oosterveer hinted that Vlaar could be set to leave the Birmingham side for a big club in the near future.
“We have not spoken to Aston Villa. The club have not requested talks with us,” Oosterveer told Voetbal International.
“The ball is with Aston Villa. Ron is in a situation which is not unfavourable. We are in no hurry.
“I don’t want to respond [to rumours about Arsenal and Manchester United], but the natural break for Ron is now and it’s the time to take a nice step. He is ambitious.
“Last summer, Southampton were interested in Ron. But we asked ourselves whether that club would be a step forward compared to Aston Villa.
“Now that club are suddenly second, so things can happen quickly.”
