Luke Shaw says Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is always willing to give the teenager advice.

The England international has made six Premier League appearances following his £27m move to Old Trafford from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

He’s always willing to give me advice

The 19-year-old revealed the England and United skipper has been a huge help since his big-money move to the 20-time English champions.

“He’s helped a lot. He’s helped me especially since I came here,” Shaw told MUTV.

“He helped me settle in and he’s always willing to give me advice and talk to me on and off the pitch.

“It’s really something for me as a young player, for your club and country captain to want to talk to you and give you advice.”

Shaw paid tribute to his team-mate ahead of Rooney’s 100th England appearance against Slovenia on Saturday night.

“When you look at it, 100 caps for England is one of the biggest things you can achieve,” added Shaw.

“What he’s done has been unbelievable, for club and country. It’s been spectacular.

“Hopefully there are many more [caps] to come because he showed people in the last game what he’s capable of and what he can do.

“I’m sure he and his family will be proud and everyone at United is extremely proud of him too.”
