Mauricio Pochettino admits Tottenham Hotspur need to improve quickly after Spurs suffered their fifth Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday.

Stoke City made a sixth-minute breakthrough courtesy of Bojan Krkic’s low strike from outside the area before Jonathan Walters doubled the visitors’s advantage.

My challenge in the next few weeks is to change the mentality and to find that solution

In-form Nacer Chadli did manage to halve the deficit at White Hart Lane before full-back Kyle Naughton was sent off for a reckless challenge.

And Pochettino, who replaced Tim Sherwood at Spurs in May, vowed to find a solution to the north London side’s problem during the international break.

“In football you always need time to implement different methods but we need to improve quickly because you never have a long time in football,” Pochettino said.

“You need to get results and we need to find a solution quickly. My challenge in the next few weeks is to change the mentality and to find that solution.”

Tottenham make the trip to Hull City on 23 November.
