Mourinho delivers latest Chelsea injury update ahead of West Brom clash
Jose Mourinho is hoping Cesc Fabregas will be fit for Chelsea's clash with West Brom on Saturday
Jose Mourinho is “hopeful” that Cesc Fabregas will be fit for Chelsea’s clash with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The midfielder pulled out of international duty with Spain due to a hamstring problem but is in contention to feature against the Baggies.
Mourinho also revealed that Andre Schurrle and Diego Costa are both fit, with Ramires also closing in on a return.
Asked about Chelsea’s injury situation Mourinho said on Friday: “Nathan Ake is out for a few weeks. John Obi Mikel I don’t know, he only got back this morning.
“Diego Costa is totally recovered, the same with Schurrle.
“Fabregas hopefully will be fit, Ramires can play, his injury is improving, but he is not in very good condition.”
Quizzed about Costa’s fitness, Mourinho continued: “The Christmas period is new for him.
“He has worked with a club physio even during a little holiday [during the international break]. He is on four bookings [only one away from a suspension] but will I protect him? No.”
