Jamie Redknapp believes Olivier Girould could struggle to get into the Arsenal team when the Gunners striker recovers from injury.

The France international has been sidelined since suffering a broken foot during a 2-2 draw with Everton in August, allowing Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck to impress in the Arsenal attack.

With Theo Walcott making his return from a knee problem on Saturday, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp reckons Giroud could find himself further down the pecking order.

“With Walcott back, Giroud might end up with Andy Carroll syndrome – how on earth does he get back in the team?” Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

“A frontline of Welbeck, Walcott and Sanchez spells speed and goals, but I’m sure Arsene Wenger would rather have him in his squad than not.

“Whoever they go for it’s great news for Arsenal fans – they deserve to have great, exciting players like Sanchez to watch.”

Sanchez is Arsenal’s top goal-scorer with seven strikes this season, netting twice in a 3-0 win against Burnley at the weekend.

What is Olivier Giroud better at?
