Pat Nevin believes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the only players better than Chelsea forward Eden Hazard.

The Belgium international is an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s table-topping Chelsea side, scoring five goals in 17 appearances in all competitions so far this term.

And former Chelsea winger Nevin highlighted Hazard’s steady improvement at the west London club since he moved to Stamford Bridge in 2012.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Hazard since he joined Chelsea, but he’s getting better and better,” Nevin told Goal.com.

“He is at that level just below Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but I believe the only thing missing from his game is more goals.

“He’s still young and he has time to develop his prowess in front of goal. What has particularly impressed me is that he is getting more involved in games after his boss said a few choice words about his work-rate last season.

“Mourinho accepts nothing less than the absolute best and he knew there was more to come from Hazard. Credit to Hazard, he took that on board.”
