Pellegrini delivers latest Man City injury update after Southampton win
Manchester City will have to wait to discover the extent of Vincent Kompany's hamstring problem
Manchester City will have to wait until Monday to discover if Vincent Kompany is facing a spell on the sidelines, Manuel Pellegrini has revealed.
The City captain limped off in the closing stages of Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s and could be a doubt for the midweek clash against Sunderland.
“Kompany has a problem with his hamstring but we’ll see tomorrow if it’s a cramp or just an injury,” said Pellegrini.
“I didn’t see the incident but he was already telling us he had a problem with his hamstring a minute before.”
Sunday’s victory moved City to within six points of leaders Chelsea after the Blues were held to a goalless draw at Sunderland on Saturday.
“I am very pleased. We beat a very good team,” said Pellegrini. “They were second in the table and deserved that position.
“We played a very good game it was important to have a clean sheet again, they had just one chance in the 90 minutes and that is important for the trust in our team, and to score three goals against the best defence is also very important.”
