Lukas Podolski could be forgiven for dozing off on the Arsenal bench every now and then this season.

The Germany international has not started a Premier League game for Arsene Wenger’s men so far this season and has made just eight appearances in all competitions.

And even Chelsea’s 5-0 win over Schalke or Manchester City’s dramatic 3-2 fightback to beat Bayern Munich couldn’t keep the forward awake as he fell asleep on the sofa on Tuesday night.

Podolski posted the picture above on his Instagram account and wrote: “UCL over ! Now time for bed… Good night everyone. #goodnight #dog #love #poldi #LP10.”

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in recent weeks, and speaking last week, Podolski said: “I have to speak to Wenger because the situation at the moment is not good for me.

“I have to play. I am happy at Arsenal and happy in London but I don’t have the chance to play.”
