Daniel Sturridge appeared to give Liverpool a boost by hinting that he is set to return from injury shortly, before quickly deleting the post on Instagram.

The striker has not featured for the Reds since August due to thigh and calf problems but is now closing in on a return to first-team action.

Sturridge posted the picture above on Instagram on Thursday morning and wrote: “Good days work chilling with my brother Pedro getting a rub. At the end of the tunnel. Thank you Jesus.”

However, the 25-year-old soon deleted the post before Brendan Rodgers revealed that Sturridge is not quite ready to return at his weekly news briefing at Melwood.

“He’s out on the field today with the rehab team, he was moving very well,” Rodgers said. “But he’s probably a little bit of time away.”
