Emmanuel Frimpong has described Jack Wilshere as one of his “football heroes” on a Throwback Thursday post on Instagram.

The pair came through Arsenal’s youth system together before Frimpong left the north London club to join Barnsley back in January on a free transfer.

Frimpong posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “TBT – With one of my Football heroes From Young Since 2000.”

The Ghana-born midfielder joined Russian side FC Ufa back in September and has made six appearances so far this season.

The 22-year-old only managed to notch up six Premier League appearance for Arsenal during his time at the club.

He spent time on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic and Fulham from Arsenal.

Wilshere, by contrast, has played in nearly 100 top-flight games for the north London side.
