Liverpool may face Chelsea at 12.45 GMT on Saturday, but plenty of eyes will be on a race in Doncaster five minutes before kick-off at Anfield.

‘Gerrard’s Slip’ is running in the Maiden Stakes at Doncaster just before Liverpool take on the Premier League leaders for the first time since their captain’s infamous mistake last April.

Steven Gerrard’s unforgettable slip allowed Demba Ba to break the deadlock at Anfield, triggering Liverpool’s title-race collape after leading with three games remaining.

And the Bryan Smart-trained horse, which will be ridden by jockey Adam Carter, is priced at 12/1 to win the six furlong.

On Merseyside, meanwhile, Paddy Power are offering new customer the chance to back Liverpool or the draw at 5/1, while Chelsea are 6/1 to win at Anfield – again.

The Liverpool captain is 4/1 to score any time, whilst the 34-year-old is a rather tempting 11/1 to break the deadlock at Anfield.
