Jose Enrique can be forgiven as a defender for celebrating the second anniversary of his first Liverpool goal.

The Spanish full-back made a bright start to his Liverpool career following a £7m move to Anfield from Newcastle United in 2011.

However, Enrique had to wait over 12 months to notch his first strike for the Merseyside outfit, scoring in a 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on 17 November 2012.

And the 29-year-old defender took to Instagram to post a video of his strike after Liverpool’s account paid tribute to their social-media savvy left-back.

“From when I score my first goal for liverpool against Wigan. Hopefully it can happen again soon,” Enrique wrote on Instagram.

Enrique, who has endured an injury-hit year, has scored just three goals since his move from St James’ Park.

Liverpool posted on their Instagram account: “On this day two years ago, Jose Enrique scored his debut goal for #LFC in a Premier League fixture against Wigan Athletic which ended 3-0 for the Reds at Anfield #photooftheday”
