Thibaut Courtois takes to Instagram after Chelsea book their place in the Champions League knockout round

Thibaut Courtois took to Instagram to post a selfie with Cesar Azpilicueta after helping Chelsea book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Courtois kept a clean sheet as Jose Mourinho’s men ran riot against Schalke, securing a 5-0 victory to top their group with a game to spare.

The goalkeeper posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “With my friend @thibautcourtois after the qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League! @chelseafc #team #ucl”

Cesc Fabregas, meanwhile, kept his own Instagram post short and sweet, sharing the photo below and writing: “Top of the group.”

Goals from John Terry, Willian and Jan Kirchhoff’s own-goal made it 3-0 at half-time in Germany, before Didier Drogba and Ramires scored after the break to add gloss to the scoreline.

The win saw Chelsea secure top spot in Group G with one game to spare.
