The 27-year-old German celebrates her third title of the year with victory over Flavia Pennetta

Andrea Petkovic won her third title of the year by beating Italy’s Flavia Pennetta to win the WTA Tournament of Champions in Sofia on Sunday.

The world number 17 overcame her Italian opponent 1-6 6-4 6-3 in an entertaining final that lasted more than two hours.

The 27-year-old took to Twitter after her triumph to post a picture with her new trophy.

Speaking after the final, Petkovic said: “I love watching Flavia play, but I hate playing her because she’s so difficult to play!

“I’m happy could gather enough energy in the end and play well enough to win it in the end.”
