Arsenal have been handed a welcome injury boost after Olivier Giroud returned to Arsenal training on Thursday morning.

The French striker has been out since August after suffering a broken leg during the 2-2 draw with Everton at the start of the season.

The 28-year-old is now closing in on a return to first-team action after being put through his paces at Arsenal’s London Colney training base.

Mathieu Flamini and Nacho Monreal were among the other players involved under the watchful eye of Arsene Wenger.

Speaking last month, Wenger revealed that Giroud was “miles ahead of schedule” in his recovery.

“He’s three weeks ahead of schedule and I think he will join in normal training after the international break,” Wenger said. “Of course [it is a big boost]. He’s miles ahead of schedule.”

Most of the Arsenal first-team squad are currently away on international duty.

Here are some of the best pictures from Thursday morning’s session.
