Sergio Aguero scored a second-half winner as Manchester City edged to a 1-0 victory over 10-man Manchester United at The Etihad.

Red Devils defender Chris Smalling received his marching orders in the first half for a second bookable offence following a mistimed challenge on England international James Milner.

The home side made their man advantage count in the second half when prolific Argentine striker Aguero guided a powerful finish past United goalkeeper David De Gea.

However, Louis van Gaal’s side rallied, and Wayne Rooney failed to finish after a superb solo run before Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini miscued a simple header.

Despite late United pressure during five minutes of added time, the defending Premier League champions managed to hold on to secure a fourth successive derby victory.

And Manuel Pellegrini’s side move to within six points of current leaders Chelsea thanks to their victory over the Premier League’s most-decorated side.

Here is a selection of the best photos from the 1-0 win at Etihad Stadium.
