QPR transfers: Sandro wants to link up with former Spurs team-mate

Sandro urges Jermain Defoe to join Queens Park Rangers in January

Sandro has urged former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Jermain Defoe to join Queens Park Rangers in January.

The England international is being heavily linked with a move to the west London side to link up with his former Portsmouth, Spurs and West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp.

The 32-year-old striker is believed to be unhappy at Toronto FC after the Major League Soccer outfit’s owner made disparaging remarks about the former Tottenham star.

And Sandro, who swapped White Hart Lane for Loftus Road in a £6m deal this summer, believes Defoe would help share the workload with Hoops striker Charlie Austin.

“We’re playing good at this moment,” Sandro is quoted as saying.

“If one player like him comes to help us it’s always good. Jermain Defoe is a great striker. If he comes, he’s going to help a lot.

“But we are good at the moment. Everyone is scoring goals.”

Defoe has scored 11 goals in 15 Major League Soccer appearances after completing a move to Toronto from Tottenham in February.

The ex-West Ham United forward netted 152 goals in 427 Premier League appearances before leaving for the MLS.
