Rodgers gives latest Liverpool injury update ahead of Palace clash
Brendan Rodgers talks about the fitness of Jordan Henderson and Mario Balotelli
Brendan Rodgers says Jordan Henderson should be fit to feature for Liverpool at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Reds midfielder didn’t feature in England’s 3-1 victory over Scotland at Celtic Park on Tuesday night.
He should, hopefully, be fine for the weekend
However, Liverpool manager Rodgers revealed Henderson’s absence was a precautionary measure after a hamstring issue.
“Jordan missed the game against Scotland, but I think it was just as a precaution, really. He had a slight tightness,” Rodgers to his pre-match media conference at Melwood.
“He was on the bench, but he wasn’t risked. England had other good players to come in.
“He should, hopefully, be fine for the weekend.”
Italy international Mario Balotelli returned to the Merseyside outfit ahead of his country’s 1-1 draw with Croatia on Saturday.
And Rodgers revealed Liverpool would assess the 24-year-old’s fitness after the £16m summer signing suffered a knock on international duty.
“He had an issue with the Italian squad, who he returned back from. We’ll assess that over the next couple of days,” Rodgers added.
Balotelli has scored two goals in 15 appearances in all competitions.
