Roy Hodgson: I hope Jack Wilshere will carry England form to Arsenal
The England manager heaps praise on the Arsenal youngster
Roy Hodgson was full of praise for Jack Wilshere after another impressive performance from the England midfielder in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Scotland.
The Arsenal man’s clipped pass set up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the Three Lions’ opener at Celtic Park, before Wayne Rooney’s two goals after half-time wrapped up victory.
And the England boss was delighted to see the 22-year-old follow up his sparkling display against Slovenia at the weekend with another eye-catching performance in midweek.
“[If I asked Jack] to play further forward in the left of right-hand position, I think he’d do that extremely well too,” said Hodgson.
“But at the moment, particularly because there are quite a few people competing in that position not available to us, Jack’s stepped up to the plate and played extremely well.
“He’s going to be delighted with his autumn and I’m hoping now that he’ll carry that forward, not only for us but also for his club as well.”
Wilshere himself added: “I loved every minute of that. We knew going in to the game it would be a great occasion and so it proved.
“We really stepped up and showed what we could do tonight.”
