Spain boss: I have no choice but to trust Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas
Vicente del Bosque says that he has no choice but to trust that Cesc Fabregas is injured
Vicente del Bosque says that he has no option but to trust that Cesc Fabregas is struggling with a hamstring injury after the Chelsea midfielder withdrew from Spain duty.
The 27-year-old pulled out of the squad for the forthcoming round of internationals after complaining of discomfort, despite scans appearing to give the all-clear.
Fabregas completed the full 90 minutes as Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday, but Del Bosque says that he had no choice but to send the Spaniard back to his club.
“We had to wait a few days to evaluate Cesc’s injury and we opted for him not to continue with us,” said Del Bosque.
“His muscle seems all right but he complains and he is the best doctor.
“I prefer to be deceived but I cannot be distrustful. When a player of his calibre tells you that he is injured, you have to believe him. At times we have been flexible but not in this case.”
