Federico Fazio has rubbished Emmanuel Adebayor’s suggestion that Tottenham Hotspur lack confidence.

The Togo international was speaking in the wake of a 2-1 defeat by Stoke City on Sunday, amounting to their fourth home Premier League defeat of the season.

We need to improve some things but I think we will stay in the top positions of the Premier League

But Spurs defender Fazio doesn’t believe Mauricio Pochettino’s men lack self-belief despite a poor run of results which have left the north London outfit in 12th place.

“No, I think this (confidence) is not the problem. We need to play like a team on the pitch,” Fazio is quoted as saying.

“I think that we have very good players, good enough to be higher in the Premier League.

“There have only been 10 or 11 matches. We need to improve some things but I think we will stay in the top positions of the Premier League.”

Fazio has made eight appearances in all competitions for Tottenham following his £7m move to White Hart Lane from Europa League winner Sevilla.
