Steven Gerrard biggest influence on my career, says Liverpool midfielder
Jordan Henderson hails Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard
Jordan Henderson says Steven Gerrard has been the biggest influence on his career so far.
The 24-year-old England midfielder has blossomed into one of Liverpool’s most-influential players over the past two years.
I watched him when I was younger and then to go on and play with him and train with him every day was massive for me
And Henderson, who joined from Sunderland in 2011, credited his Liverpool captain with helping his career progress.
“I’d probably have to say Steven has been the biggest influence on my career so far,” Henderson told FATV.
“I watched him when I was younger and then to go on and play with him and train with him every day was massive for me. It still is now.”
Henderson added that he was honoured to score in the Liverpool captain’s testimonial against Olympiakos last summer.
“At the end of the day, it was Steven Gerrard’s testimonial and not many people can say that they have scored in something like that,” Henderson added.
“So for me personally it was a big goal because it meant a lot. That’s probably why I celebrated like I did.”
