Tony Gale has hailed Alexis Sanchez’s “appetite for the game” after the Arsenal forward’s impressive performance in a 3-0 win against Burnley.

The Chile international broke the deadlock with a pinpoint header in the 70th minute before sealing three points with a close-range effort on the stroke of full-time.

And former West Ham United defender Gale is impressed with the 25-year-old, who has scored seven goals since his £35m move to The Emirates from Barcelona in the summer.

“He has a lot of appetite for the game. He has quick feet in and around the area, can score with a header, and he does it at pace as well,” Gale added.

“He makes it up as he goes along. You don’t know what he is going to do. These boys have something else in their locker.”

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier added that Sanchez hasn’t received enough credit for his brilliant second goal at The Emirates on Saturday.

“He has a lot of very good attributes. I watched the game against Hull. He scored one and set up another for Welbeck,” Le Tissier added.

“He nicked a point out of that game almost on his own with his quality and enthusiasm. He kept going until the last second.

“He hasn’t been given enough credit for the second goal that he got against Burnley. The close control in the box as he shifted the ball between his feet and produced a very good finish.”
