Pat Nevin says Tottenham Hotspur don’t have a squad capable of securing a top-four finish this season.

Spurs dropped to 12th in the Premier League table after a surprise 2-1 loss to Stoke City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

They’d be fine mid-table but I don’t see them getting remotely near the top four

But former Chelsea winger Nevin doesn’t blame Pochettino for the north London side’s struggles, insisting the players aren’t good enough.

“I’m struggling to blame the manager too much because it is not his team,” Nevin told Newstalk.

“All the players were already there, and the squad is completely and utterly imbalanced.

“There are a lot of players giving you 5s and 6s out of 10s when you pick them, very few are giving 7s or 8s.

“I don’t rate that squad very highly. They’d be fine for mid-table but I don’t see them getting remotely near the top four.”

Nevin added that Tottenham were guilty of wasting the money raised from the £85.7m sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in August 2013.

“You have to ask the question who spent the Bale money? Was it AVB or was it others behind the scene?”

Should Spurs be finishing top four?
