Tottenham players need to be braver, says Glenn Hoddle
Former Spurs manager calls on Tottenham squad to show more character
Glenn Hoddle says the Tottenham Hotspur players must learn to be braver on the ball in front of their own fans.
Tottenham lost their fourth home game of the season on Sunday as Stoke City were surprise 2-1 winners at White Hart Lane.
You have to be brave on the ball to play at Tottenham in front of those fans
Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor criticised the Tottenham supporters for booing their own players during recent home fixtures in north London.
But former Spurs manager Hoddle feels Mauricio Pochettino’s men need to show more character if they want to climb the Premier League table.
“They’re fantastic supporters,” Hoddle told talkSPORT. “They always have been but the one thing they are is very demanding. Most crowds are but they are particularly demanding.
“You have to be a strong character. You have to be brave on the ball to play at Tottenham in front of those fans. If you show that character and that ability they will be behind you forever.
“At the moment things are not going too well at White Hart Lane and the players have got to be showing more character and be brave on the ball. Sometimes you look at bravery through physical tackles but great mental strength and bravery is getting on the ball.”
