Courtois made a string of saves, continuing his eye-catching form after impressing for Chelsea this season.

And Tottenham defender Vertonghen heaped praise on the Blues shot stopper, calling on Courtois to replicate his display against Wales on Sunday.

“It was a tough match,” Vertonghen is quoted as saying.

“We gave up too many chances. We were better in the game, but they were always dangerous.

“Courtois is incredible. He saved a lot, which says something about the game. Hopefully Sunday it will be the same score, with slightly fewer opportunities for Wales.”

Courtois has kept four clean sheets in 13 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea after returning from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid
