Van Gaal delivers latest Man United injury update after Man City loss
Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is set for a spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury
Marcos Rojo is set for a spell on the sidelines after the Manchester United defender suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Manchester City, Louis van Gaal has confirmed.
The Argentina international was forced off early in the second half after suffering the problem and is set to join fellow defenders Rafael, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones on the sidelines.
“His shoulder is out,” said Van Gaal.
“We don’t know how long that will take. I have to wait until Monday. But he shall not play against Crystal Palace [next Saturday], I don’t think.”
Van Gaal, whose side are ninth in the Premier League and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea after 10 games, insisted that his squad can cope with their injury struggles.
“We have very good players so I don’t cry for the injuries,” he added.
“It’s a pity, but it’s not an excuse. When [Michael] Carrick and Paddy [McNair] came in we did fantastic.
“We can do it, but we have to score and today we didn’t score that’s why we don’t have one point or three.”
