Van Gaal delivers latest Man United injury update ahead of Hull clash
Luke Shaw is set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle ligament injury, Louis van Gaal confirms
Luke Shaw is set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle ligament injury, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed.
The 19-year-old was substituted early on during last weekend’s 2-1 win over Arsenal and Van Gaal confirmed that the defender is set to be sidelined “for a few weeks”.
Van Gaal said: “Luke sustained an ankle ligament injury but with no serious complications and he will only be out for the next few weeks because of this.”
The Manchester United boss also revealed that both Radamel Falcao and Marcos Rojo could be in the Red Devils’ squad for Saturday’s clash with Hull at Old Trafford.
“We have to wait and see until the last training session of course,” said Van Gaal. “It’s always difficult to say but we have good news, yes. You have to read between the lines.
“I have to train the last session and I live day by day at this moment. So maybe Falcao can come back in the 18 [matchday squad], maybe Rojo can come back in the 18. That’s it I think.”
Asked about Daley Blind’s continuing rehab from his knee injury, Van Gaal added: “I gave him a holiday and he came back on Monday.
“He has to exercise and practise every day as an injured player has to train more than the fit players.”
