Van Gaal gives latest Man United injury update ahead of Arsenal trip
Louis van Gaal is not expecting Radamel Falcao to be fit to start Manchester United's clash with Arsenal
Louis van Gaal is not expecting Radamel Falcao to be fit to start Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal on 22 November.
The Colombia international has been out with a muscular injury and joins Jonny Evans, Rafael and Phil Jones on the sidelines.
Asked if any of the quartet might return for the trip to Emirates Stadium, Van Gaal said: “No, I don’t think so because now some of them have already not played for five, six, seven weeks.
“They could sit on the bench because they can play 20 minutes but I cannot put a lot of players who are not 100 per cent fit on the bench.
“You saw what happened with [Paddy] McNair [getting cramp against Crystal Palace] because the rhythm of the game is very high in the Premier League.”
Meanwhile, Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink revealed that captain Robin van Persie has picked up a small knock ahead of the latest round of Euro 2016 qualifiers.
“Van Persie is not quite fit,” said Hiddink. “He trained today but he did not fully participate. I don’t think he will be used against Mexico.”
