Arsene Wenger has taken the first step towards making up with Jose Mourinho – by shaking the hand of a cardboard cut-out version of the Chelsea manager.

The pair’s fractious relationship hit the headlines after the duo clashed on the touchline during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the start of October.

Wenger shoved Mourinho during the heated exchange as the Blues maintained their place at the top of the Premier League table.

But during a appearance on BeIN Sports this week, Wenger chose to shake the hand of a fake version of Mourinho when given the chance by the show’s presenters.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho moved to play down the touchline spat.

“I did nothing,” said Mourinho. “So many times in football I didn’t behave the right way, to get a yellow card or a red card or to be sent to the stands, but today I did absolutely nothing.

“It was just the opposition manager coming into my technical area asking for a red card and pressuring the referee. That’s football, no problem for me.”

Would you shake Jose Mourinho’s hand in real life?
