Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update after Burnley win
Arsenal boss says Jack Wilshere could return in time to face Anderlecht on Tuesday night
Jack Wilshere could return to Arsenal training on Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Anderlecht, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The England midfielder sat out Saturday’s 3-0 win over Burnley at Emirates Stadium after picking up a minor knee problem in the build-up to the game.
But Wenger is hopeful that the 22-year-old will be back available for the midweek European game at Emirates Stadium.
Quizzed about Wilshere’s fitness after Saturday’s victory, Wenger replied: “He has not practiced yet. Will he be available? We’ll see. I think he will try tomorrow, Monday latest.”
And when asked if his side had suffered any fresh injury setbacks, he added simply: “No.”
Saturday’s victory hoisted Arsenal up to fourth place in the Premier League table as they recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
