Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Man United clash
Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta are available for Arsenal's clash with Manchester United
Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta are both available for selection ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
Giroud has not featured for the Gunners since August after suffering a broken leg against Everton, while Mikel Arteta picked up an injury in the Champions League clash with Anderlecht.
“Giroud and Arteta are both available,” said Wenger. “It’s just a question of how ready they are. But they are available.”
“He [Giroud] is three or four weeks ahead of schedule. Originally we planned to have him back for competition at the beginning of next year. So he’s one month ahead.”
Wenger also revealed that Mesut Ozil is recovering well from his knee injury but is unlikely to be fit before the new year.
He added: “Ozil is doing well but he will not be ready before the start of 2015.”
The Gunners boss also delivered updates about the fitness situations of defenders Laurent Koscielny and Mathieu Debuchy.
“Koscielny and Debuchy are doing well, they are out on the field [working] again,” he said.
“We have to see now. Usually field work is three weeks away from full group training.
“Then there is fitness. It looks straightforward for Debuchy. It’s not inflammation, it’s just repairing surgery. For Koscielny, it depends how well he responds to training. At the moment he looks good.”
