Wenger gives latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Anderlecht clash
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is ruled out of Champions League game due to illness
Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with Anderlecht on Tuesday due to illness.
The Arsenal midfielder sat out Saturday’s 3-0 win over Burnley with a minor knee complaint and will also miss the midweek game because of sickness, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
Wenger, who also revealed that there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the European game, said: “We have nobody else sick other than Aarom Ramsey last week and Jack Wilshere now.
The Gunners boss continued: “We had a lot of long-term injuries but they are all slowly getting better. We are near the end of the tunnel.
“We need a strong run to come back against Chelsea. What’s important is that we increase our quality game by game.”
Arsenal left it late in the reverse fixture last month, as last-gasp goals from Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski wrapped up a dramatic 2-1 in in Belgium.
The north London side are currently second in Group D, three points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
